Williams went missing once before: roommate

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Innsmouth, MA – Mary Williams, the 25-year-old woman who has been missing for more than a week, disappeared on a previous occasion, Williams’ former roommate reveals.

Teresa Hayden said Williams mysteriously left the apartment they shared on Water Street a year ago.

“I came home one day and she was simply gone. There was no note, no messages, nothing,” Hayden said. “She returned five days later without an explanation.”

At the time, Williams (an amateur photographer) was busy taking pictures of the nearby abandoned lighthouse and caves near the beach.

“She spent a lot of time there. She said she was trying to take pictures for a coffee book,” Hayden said.

The book did not come to fruition and shortly after her return Williams moved out of the apartment.

“Mary had some issues. She suffered from depression and she sleepwalked. After her first disappearance, it all got worse. We were having lots of problems. Eventually, she decided to move in with her boyfriend.”

Last Friday, Mary Williams told her boyfriend Paul Meyer that she would be staying with an aunt in Arkham for the weekend. When Williams did not show up for her shift at Hannigan & Co., a jewellery shop specializing in custom gold pieces, Meyer contacted the police.

“She wouldn’t disappear like this,” said Meyer. “She had no reason to leave.”

The case is being treated as suspicious and Innsmouth police suspect foul play.
