Supernatural (Wednesday nights, 9pm, CW)
By Paula R. Stiles

The Season 12 line-up (23 episodes) so far: “Keep Calm and Carry On” (12.01) official photos and press release; “Mamma Mia” (12.02) synopsis and photos; “The Foundry” (12.03) synopsis, official photos, sneak peek, and promo; “American Nightmare” (12.04) synopsis, official photos and promo; “The One You’ve Been Waiting For” (12.05) synopsis and set photos; and “Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox” (12.06) synopsis.

Official photos for 12.04 (“American Nightmare”) are up. The promo is also out.

A belated sneak peek came out last week for “The Foundry” (12.03).

The synopsis for 12.06 (“Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox”) is up and after this week’s episode, it has a big old spoiler in it:

“Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox” – (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)

THREE WINCHESTERS ARE BETTER THAN ONE – When hunters gather together to celebrate the life and tragic death of one of their own, Sam (Jared Padalecki) Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) must take action when a demon starts picking off hunters one by one. John Bedham directed the episode written by Steven Yockey (#1206). Original airdate 11/17/2016.

Entertainment Weekly did a live interview/panel with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles on Saturday at the EW Popfest.

Padalecki also told TV Line they’d be happy to see Eric Kripke come back. Myself, I’d be fine with his not coming back, ever.

Michael Massee (Kubrick in season three) died last week.

Alicia Witt has revealed she will be in an upcoming episode as a former associate of Castiel. According to TV Line, the character is named Lily Sunder and she’s “an old enemy of Castiel.” Because, you know, we’ve never seen that before.

Canadagraphs has some set photos up for 12.05 (“The One You’ve Been Waiting For”).

Ever since the shocking season premiere of The Walking Dead came out, Supernatural-themed memes in which Rick begs the Winchester boys to take their father back (just in case anyone wondered which show really was more badass) have flooded social media. So, naturally, Jensen Ackles decided to fan the flames by doing one of his own and roping Jeffrey Dean Morgan into playing along.

Ratings for the season premiere stayed the same in demo with 0.6/2 and rose slightly in audience (700,000) to 1.68 million. In the Live+7 ratings, the season premiere rose from 0.8 to 1.4. Also, the show topped the Nielsen Social Ratings chart last week (remember that Nielsen counts these now, so they also count toward renewal prospects).

Unfortunately, Legends of Tomorrow isn’t doing the show any favors, mainly because Legends of Tomorrow could be doing a lot better. Even so, Supernatural is currently in no danger.

We’ll be back next week with more news, spoilers and blatantly unabashed self-promotion. Stay tuned and check out our reviews of Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Event, Once Upon a Time, Grimm and Supernatural.
