Supernatural (Tuesday nights, 9pm, CW)
By Paula R. Stiles

This week is “Paint It Black” (10.16). So far, we’ve got a promo, as well as the official synopsis, and promotional photos.

Salon talked about the show in context of the CW’s focus on dark fantasy, though they seemed to do so briefly and at arm’s length, while failing to acknowledge that this trend was started by Supernatural in the first place.

Ackles tweeted a spoilery photo of himself (as a bloodied Dean) last Thursday, while wishing his wife a happy birthday.

Finally, on the show’s “new” night, “The Things They Carried” got a pretty lousy 0.6/2 in demo and 1.73 million in audience, its lowest rating in quite a while. Arrow also got a pretty miserable 0.9/3. It seems that a combination of the new night, an MOTW and the season finale (over 6.0 for both hours) for massive new hit Empire on FOX did some damage to the ratings. Hopefully, they will go up again next week.

We’ll be back next week with more news, spoilers and blatantly unabashed self-promotion. Stay tuned and check out our reviews of Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Event, Once Upon a Time, Grimm and Supernatural.
