TV Spoilers & Speculation Corner: 11/23/11

This week, we have spoilers for Once Upon a Time,  Doctor Who and Supernatural:

Once Upon a Time (Sunday nights, 8pm, ABC)
By Heather S. Vina

The official ABC press release is out for episode 1.07, “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter”:

“‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’ – One of the town’s residents begins to remember their fairytale past, and Storybrooke mourns the loss of one of their own. Meanwhile, in the fairytale world that was, the Evil Queen attempts to find a heartless assassin to murder Snow White, on Once Upon a Time, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Once Upon a Time stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Robert Carlyle as Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Jared Gilmore as Henry Mills, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, and Raphael Sbarge as Jiminy Cricket/Archie Hopper.

“Guest starring are Jamie Dornan as Sheriff Graham, Meghan Ory as Ruby/Red, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidney/Mirror, Howard Siegel as Tavern Owner, Scott Heindl as Bartholomew, Tristan Jensen as Horatio, and Kam Kozak as Black Guard.

“‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’ was written by Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz and directed by Dave Barrett.”

I’m guessing that the death takes place before this episode, in episode 1.06, “The Shepherd”. Sheriff Graham is still listed in the cast, as is Meghan Ory as Ruby, but I don’t think this rules them out. They could be appearing in flashbacks or as their fairytale character, and still be “dead” in the real world.

Then again, it could also be Granny, hence why Ruby/Red is listed and she isn’t. Then again, Granny hasn’t shown up since episode 1.02, I believe? So, who knows?

Scandalbaby over at the Once Upon A Time Livejournal typed up the article/interview with Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis that appeared in Entertainment Weekly. The biggest thing for me was that they confirmed that Regina DOES know that everyone in town is a fairytale character. They were more cagey on whether or not Mr. Gold AKA Rumplestiltskin does, but promised that that will be answered in the first nine episodes.

They mentioned that Henry’s father is an important part of the puzzle and that they may drop him into the show, but the viewers might not even know it. The Sheriff is “pivotal” to the story and Regina is trying to fill the emotional void that the curse left in her – with Henry.

Kristin over at E!Online has some spoilery Q&As up in her most recent chat:

OnceUponaTimeFR: We saw Snow White, Cinderella and soon Belle will arrive. Which other Fairy princesses can we expect on OUAT?”
“While we’re not sure which princesses will be making appearance in Storybrooke soon, we do know the show is currently casting a “beautiful, alluring and seductive” woman to play the siren. It’s almost impossibly for any man to ignore her temptations and we hear she may set her sights on a certain charming man.”

Noelle: Some Once Upon a Time scoop would be great! Thanks!”
“Remember Dr. Whale (David Anders), David’s slimy doc who was in cahoots with Regina (Lana Parrilla)? We’ll soon learn who he was in the fairy tale realm. Speculate away!”

Nick: I do not approve of anyone dying on Once Upon a Time! Any hints?!”
“We love all the characters so we’re bummed to see anyone go…but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. We can officially eliminate Henry and Ruby from the guessing game. Also, Don’t forget to vote in our OUAT death pool!”

Well, I never thought it would be Henry as the death. For that matter, I doubt it will be any of the Charming/White family members. But I did think Ruby was a possibility. Now, I guess not. Kristin isn’t always the most reliable person, but from what she has hinted when this spoiler first came out, she does know who the dead character is (as does Ausiello, it seems like), so I will give her the benefit of the doubt on Ruby.

That still leaves the Sheriff, Archie and Granny, who were my next three top choices for the death!

E! also had an article up talking about how Jennifer Morrison mentioned that the show was looking at Joanna Garcia (Reba, Privileged) for a role. E! is speculating it could be for Ariel from The Little Mermaid, since the writers recently mentioned wanting to bring Ariel into the show (They say that in the EW article, too).

The Tumblr Fyeahsnowandcharming has a bunch of spoilers up for upcoming episodes. This is their post for episode 1.12 and this is the one for episode 1.13.

From what I can gather, this is the progression of spoilers for the upcoming episodes:

Episode 1.06 is the episode where David is conflicted over Kathryn and Mary Margaret. Going by spoilers for episodes 1.12 and 1.13, he ultimately picks Kathryn.

Episode 1.07 is the death-of-a-character episode. Someone supposedly saw Eion Bailey (Covert Affairs, Band of Brothers) filming with Jennifer Morrison (Emma) and Jared Gilmore (Henry), and his character is reportedly called “The Stranger”. I haven’t been able to track down where that spoiler came from, though.

Episode 1.10 is the campaign for Sheriff, with David on the side of Sidney (of the Daily Mirror) and Mary for Emma.

Episode 1.12 involves David shopping for Valentine’s Day cards and buying two cards. Mary hangs out with Ruby and Ashley. This is the episode that Belle appears in. Check out this post for more details.

Episode 1.13 involves a siren trying to seduce Prince Charming, who is able to resist her. In the end, she tries to lure him into her web by turning into Snow White. In the real world, David tells Mary that he broke up with Kathryn and Mary tells him they can start over together. Check out the post for the details!

Canadagraphs has some pictures up of Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas filming on location as Mary and David.

The Once Upon A Time Livejournal has audio up of a radio interview Josh Dallas did.

The show returns November 27th. The last show before the Christmas break is on December 11.

Doctor Who (Saturday nights, 9pm, BBC America)
By Heather S. Vina

The first trailer for the Christmas special is up! It’s called “The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe.” No sign of Rory and Amy, but both Karen and Arthur were seen filming a scene, so it looks like they make at least a cameo appearance.

The Doctor Who Magazine tweeted this today: “Matt Smith confirmed today he’ll be returning next year to make a new 13-part series, a 2012 Christmas Special & a 50th anniversary Special!”

They also reported that filming for the next season (or “series”, as they call it) will start in February 2012.

Supernatural (Friday nights, 9pm, CW)
By Paula R. Stiles

Spoilers are pretty thin on the ground this week, since Thanksgiving is on Thursday and there is no new episode until 7.10 on Friday, December 2. This Friday, the CW is running Christmas specials. 7.10 (“Death’s Door”) is the last episode for 2011. The show returns with 7.11 (“Adventures in Babysitting”) on January 6.

We’ve got a CW promo (of course), though no clip, showrunner preview or Canadian promo yet. Official photos are out, though. We have some pics of Bobby and Rufus witnessing a scene from Bobby’s childhood and some hospital pics with Sam and Dean, Dean looking very messed up (and alone in two of them). Sure looks like Bobby will playing Scrooge in the show’s version of A Christmas Carol. That would explain why they needed to cast a character named “The Grim Reaper” (Ghost of Christmas Future, I bet). It had to happen sometime, though “When the Levee Breaks” had a non-seasonal version of this. Let’s hope, if he doesn’t die, Bobby will come back with a new and better attitude. Maybe Dean will be Bobby’s Tiny Tim.

There’s also a cast spoiler from last week. Jason Dohring (previously of Veronica Mars and currently on Ringer) will be guest-starring in 7.12 (“Time After Time After Time”), the Eliot Ness time-travel episode, switching places with Misha Collins, who is going to appear on Ringer. Dohring will play the pagan cannibal – I mean, god – Chronos. This episode is currently filming. Jim Beaver, who has been in Japan the past couple of weeks, doesn’t appear to be in it, though it’s hard to say. The filming schedule this past week has appeared to be a little unclear. Also not clear is a tease by producer Jim Michaels that one of the directors’ daughters has been booked to appear on the show.

Cindy Sampson has a new interview up. Nothing new on Supernatural (though she does talk about working on the show), but her busy schedule indicates we might not see Lisa again any time soon.

Finally, ratings were down a bit, though not severely, to 0.7 and 1.55 million. Also, Supernatural once again appeared in the DVR+7 listings, increasing from 0.8 to 1.1 (38%) the week of November 4.

We’ll be back next week with more spoilers. Stay tuned and check out our reviews of Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Event, Once Upon a Time, and Supernatural.
