This week, after a brief hiatus due to our latest fiction issue coming out last Monday, we continue with spoilers from V, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural:
V (Tuesday nights, 10pm, ABC)
By Silvia Moreno-Garcia
There are so many spoilers this week that it is hard even to determine what to include.
Tons of spoiler footage descriptions were posted at IGN, including the scene where V ship captains assemble to speak to Anna, with Anna killing one of them with her tail, and Anna confronting her mother. Apparently, Diana came to Earth decades before to see if interbreeding between humans and lizards was possible, but quickly discovered her kind were affected my human emotions.
Possibly the most interesting bit of information from the IGN spoilers is this “When he was asked if we should believe that every male and female V is actually the gender they appear to be, he [executive producer Steve Pearlman] replied, “We’re going to learn something in the sixth or seventh episode of the season that has to do with gender.”
Aha! Could this mean Lisa is really a handsome young man? I would pay good money to see the expression on Tyler’s face if that is the case. A bit of Left Hand of Darkness and kemmer would be fun.
Morena Baccarin will be giving a nod to V‘s original Diana when she eats a rat. “It’s done in a very different way than before. It’s pretty gross. It was a long, hard day at work,” she said in a recent interview.
Laura Vandervoort gave an interview where she discussed her return to Smallville. She also talked about V. She said her wardrobe will change because “she is being groomed for the throne to take over, so her wardrobe reflects that she’s an Anna-in-training – a little more mature, a little more queen-esque.” This season, she turns against her mother, relaying messages to the Fifth Column. She also seemed to confirm a rumour that had been going around claiming that in one scene, Anna watches Tyler and Lisa having sex with a secret camera.
Vandervoort said, “It’s fun to play this tense, bizarre relationship, and there’s more stuff this season that you’re going to see that raises some eyebrows with how Anna keeps on eye on Lisa – even doing things that you’d expect a mother not to want to watch.”
This would echo a scene in the original miniseries when Diana watches Robin having sex with an alien. It will also have me going “yuck,” as I’d like Tyler and Lisa to keep as far from each other as possible.
And if you’re looking for V merchandise, there’s a calendar out.
Another interesting highlight is a love interest for Anna. But it might not be Chad. They said love might come in the shape of a child or a male. I’m betting Anna is very fond of the new baby alien, which, considering the rocky road ahead with Lisa, may turn out to be her real heir, and daughter or son. Or daughter/son if the lizard’s gender is different from our own.
I leave you with a story about Australian lizards which change sex.
The Vampire Diaries (Thursday nights, 8pm, CW)

No Vampire Diaries spoilers column this week.
Supernatural (Friday nights, 9pm, CW)

Lots of spoilers again. We had a clip from “The Third Man” last week, as well as a CW and a Space promo and promotional photos. At the end of “The Third Man”, instead of an episode promo for 6.04 (“Weekend at Bobby’s”), we got a Soon promo encompassing what looks like 6.04-6.06. We also got a mini-documentary yesterday about Jensen Ackles directing “Weekend at Bobby’s” and some more promo photos. TV Guide did a brief article last week on Ackles’ directing stint. I gather they’re a bit nervous that fans won’t want to watch a Bobby-heavy episode, so the Soon promo was very…Deancentric. Yup, again with the Deancentricity over Samcentricity.
While I’ll admit to being nervous about a Bobby-heavy episode after a season and a half of piss-poor writing for the character (and a 6.04-centric new promo didn’t necessarily lay that fear to rest), I’ll also admit that the prospect of Jensen Ackles directing Jim Beaver, Mark Sheppard, Jennifer Aspen, and Steven Williams on his first go-round behind the camera has me already warming up the popcorn. Well, that, and this new clip with Rufus showing up at Bobby’s with an MOTW body helps, too. Apparently, the MOTW is an okami, which should not be showing up outside of Japan, and Sam and Dean are busy hunting a lamia (a type of Greek vampire), which should not be seen outside the Mediterranean.
There was a new interview with Sera Gamble and Eric Kripke. It has spoilers, but nothing we didn’t really get from Comic-Con.
Devon Weigel tweeted that she had been cast as a love interest for Sam. Word is she won’t be playing a prostitute, either.
A new episode synopsis for “6.06” (apparently, it will actually be 6.05), which is “Live Free or Twihard”, stated that Dean will be vamped. He’ll have to infiltrate a nest and confront an alpha vamp in order to get a cure. My God. Hell just froze over. I’m actually looking forward to this episode now.
How this jibes with the idea that 6.07 will include a scary old vampire named ‘Richard’, we don’t know yet. Especially since 6.06 is now actually “You Can’t Handle the Truth”. This one, according to the synopsis and the Soon promo, involves Dean becoming the victim of a curse by the Roman “Goddess of Truth” (Veritas), where everyone around him is forced to tell him the brutal truth in answer to his every question, which has driven other victims to suicide. That might explain why the Soon promo has a bit where Dean clocks Sam one and knocks him out cold (though it appears to be from the same scene where Dean takes out two vampires with a machete, so it could be “Live Free or Twihard”). Or it could explain that brief bit at the end of one of the early general promos, where Dean has Sam on the ground and is pounding the crap out of him in broad daylight. Looks like Dean is going to get really medieval on Sam in the next few episodes.
Actor Joe Allard tweeted that he would be playing an elf (or something green) on the show. I’m guessing that’ll be for “Clap Your Hands If You Believe” (6.09?).
Jensen Ackles did a Q&A at ChiCon last weekend in which he stated that he was very happy with the direction the season was going, contrary to what a previous panel Q&A had apparently stated. He then created another huge fan controversy by talking about asking Sera Gamble to “give Sam his soul back because it isn’t working”. Whether this should be taken literally or not is now being hotly debated. The fact that no electronic record of either panel appears to exist probably isn’t helping, though said records have not stopped controversies in the past. O the humanity.
I will admit to having a total academic geek moment when Ackles admitted that he liked playing Trivial Pursuit and his favourite subject was History.
In their joint panel (which Ackles crashed), Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins both stated that their characters would be getting laid by Christmas. Gee, I sure hope the Jimmy question finally gets answered before they go there with Castiel. Collins also stated he’d be in 6.10.
Jim Beaver tweeted that he would be in episodes 4, 6 and then 11.
There’s a new extended trailer out for the Supernatural anime series which, in all honesty, looks rather terrible. Though that wasn’t helped by a really strange cover of “Carry On, Wayward Son”. Padalecki and Ackles discussed season six a bit in a joint interview promoting the anime series, but nothing we haven’t yet heard.
Stupid Colt continues to do ratings over at Television without Pity. While the show’s audience numbers (predictably) are down, due to it being on Friday nights and things like sports preemptions, its demos are doing well, and it’s doing better than most CW shows, period. Nothing to worry about too much, here.
Finally, Mark Sheppard has a new interview out with USA Weekend. It includes spoilers for 6.04, though no new ones.
