Found on the Net: Whisperer in Darkness DVD

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Still looking for that special Lovecraft gift in time for Boxing Day (or Christmas, if you have no idea what I mean by that)? The movie adaptation of The Whisperer in Darkness produced by the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society is on sale now. And a thing of beauty it is.

As per the official page: “The studio that brought you The Call of Cthulhu now presents one of Lovecraft’s weirdest tales as a feature-length talkie starring Matt Foyer as the intrepid folklorist, Albert Wilmarth. Celebrated television and stage star Barry Lynch plays Henry Akeley, supported by an ensemble of outstanding actors. Shot on location in New England and in Hollywood, The Whisperer in Darkness brings Lovecraft’s intense imagination to vivid life in the style of the 1930s.”

This deluxe two-disc DVD set sells for $25 and includes the movie, a commentary track with the film’s producers, a documentary, a replica prop newspaper clipping about the Vermont flooding, and other fun stuff. The stars are right for Movie Night!
