Monster Byte: Arkham County Mourns

By Amanda Spedding

Arkham, MA - Arkham County is in shock following the discovery of the beaten and mutilated body of Sgt. Joseph Capello last night and the subsequent disappearance of Albert Thomas Hendrickson.

Capello was escorting Hendrickson to an undisclosed location, following a backlash from the Arkham community after details of Mr Hendrickson’s previous residence was made public.

In the days preceding the move, Hendrickson’s house was continually vandalised. After a Molotov cocktail was thrown through the front window, Arkham Police were forced to place a protective guard around Hendrickson and his property.

Arkham County Police Chief, Capt. Anthony Jones and patrolman Carl Dunedin discovered the body of Sgt. Capello when he failed to radio in.

Capt. Jones issued a short statement this morning: “It is with profound sadness that I inform you Sgt. Joseph Capello was last night killed in the line of duty. Arkham County has not only lost one of the best policemen to wear the uniform, but also a friend. Our deepest sympathies go out to Joe’s family and to all those suffering under the loss of our friend and colleague. Joe will be buried with full honours.”

Capt. Jones refused to answer any questions regarding the circumstances of Sgt. Capello’s death, nor would he speculate on the whereabouts of Albert Hendrickson: “No goddamn comment!”

Police have closed ranks and our sources are tight-lipped when it comes to details. What this reporter has been able to garner is that Sgt. Capello left with Hendrickson at approximately 8:45 pm under a barrage of abuse and hail of rotting vegetables. Capello met two designated radio call-ins, but when he failed to meet his third, officers were dispatched. Capt. Jones made the call to paramedics at 10:39 pm. Sgt. Capello was pronounced dead at the scene.

A source at the Coroner’s office would give very little information, only to say there was “significant blood loss” and “extraordinary damage”. Asked if Albert Hendrickson was also with the Coroner, our source confirmed that only Sgt. Capello was brought in.

Arkham County Hospital has confirmed Hendrickson is not under their care. A source within the hospital added. “No way is that mongrel here. And if he were, you’d have trouble finding someone to treat him. That pr**k killed Joe. I hope they hunt him down and shoot the b**tard between the eyes.”

It seems that if Arkham County weren’t ready to lynch Mr Hendrickson before, they are now. Helene Bojanowski, co-ordinator for ‘Citizens for Justice’, has informed Innsmouth Free Press that she will be lobbying for “murderers” to be placed under the same regulatory restrictions as those for child molesters. “This can’t be allowed to happen. We’ve lost one of the pillars of our community at the hands of a monster. All the secrecy, all the pandering to his rights ended up with Joe being murdered. How is that right? Now, we’ve got a child killer and cop killer roaming our county. Who’s next? You? Me? Our children?”

Arkham Sanitarium Director, Dr Elise Martinaro was unavailable for comment. Her personal assistant, Mr Walter Jax, advised that Hendrickson was “definitely not here.” When pushed, Mr Jax added, “If Mr. Hendrickson were here, we would, without question, contact the authorities immediately. We are deeply upset about Joe’s death. Deeply upset.”

Josiah Cummings was also unavailable for comment, but his wife, Hannah, said, “Josiah’s in no state to talk right now. He and Joe were fishing buddies. This has hit him hard. That…monster not only killed his sister, but now, his friend. How much more can we take? Tell me? How much more?”

What happens now is anyone’s guess. The murder of a police officer, an alleged cop killer on the loose, and a town filled with vengeance. Captain Jones has his work cut out for him if he’s to see any justice done. There has been no warning issued by Arkham County Police regarding approaching Hendrickson if found, but we’ll print it here. Under no circumstances should Hendrickson be approached; he is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Contact your local authorities should he be sighted.

Out of respect for Sgt. Capello, we did not seek any comment from his family.

Sgt. Joseph Dante Capello is survived by his wife Andrea and their four children: Joe Jr, Amelia and six-month-old twins, Julia and Josiah.
