Sparkling vs. Rings: A Comparison of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries

  • December 22, 2009

By Carla Lee

It’s easy to compare Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, partly because they do have similar premises (teen girls in love with vampires attending high school) and partly because the television show version of The Vampire Diaries seems to be going out of its way to visually remind viewers of Twilight.

Some of these comparisons are frustrating, especially when the people doing the comparing act like Twilight came first. Fans of The Vampire Diaries books are …

Got a Vampire Diaries Craving? Satisfy It Here: Supernatural Adventure Stories

  • December 15, 2009

By Carla Lee

If the hiatus from The Vampire Diaries has left you wanting more, have no fear. I’ve put together a list of books and book series which may be able to fill the hole the hiatus left behind. By Any Other Name: Changes in Characters and Relationships in The Vampire Diaries

  • December 7, 2009

By Carla Lee

As I’ve said time and again, one of my favourite things about The Vampire Diaries is the way the show presents friendships and family relationships. • November 30, 2009

By Carla Lee

(Yet another The Lost Boys reference in the title. The full quote is: “If you read the TV Guide, you don’t need a TV.”)

The season of the hiatus has begun and if you’re anything like me, you miss the show already. The hiatus is a great time to explore what content the internet offers and to connect with other fans. In that vein, I’ve put together a collection of links to useful The Vampire Diaries sites.…

Vampires Everywhere, The Vampire Diaries 1.10: “The Turning Point”

  • November 23, 2009

By Carla Lee

[spoilers ahead]

(Yes, this is another title I’ve been saving. The Lost Boys references for the win.)

I can’t quite put my finger on why, but this week’s episode was a turning point for me, too. Up until now, I’ve been enjoying the show well enough, except for a few moments when I was ready to throw up my hands and quit it. (Unsurprisingly, these moments generally occurred because of the treatment of women.) With this episode, …
