Found on the Net: Picture Perfect Lovecraft

  • March 4, 2013

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

A picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes, it’s also worth a thousand Cthulhus. A reader alerted us to a series of photos he took around Leith in Scotland, which seem to have an Innsmouthian mood. Each photo is captioned with some lines of text from “The Shadow Over Innsmouth.”

Jumping a couple of years back, Joshua Hoffine created a series of photos inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s story “Pickman’s Model.” The set of five photos is entitled …

Review: Trollhunter

  • February 27, 2013

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Trollhunter.  2010. Directed by: Andre Ovredal.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: I generally don’t like horror films filmed in a documentary style. Still, I’m willing to give them a chance, as they will sometimes surprise me (Paranormal Activity, The Last Exorcism, to name two). Found on the Net: Lovecraft, Flash-Size with a Side of Modern Art

  • February 19, 2013

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

There’s a new Lovecraft anthology in the works and it’s got a twist. Whispers from the Abyss is geared towards the “commuter market” – in other words, people who read on the subway or during lunch break. It is looking for short stories that can be enjoyed in one sitting.

From their website:

“Like Lovecraft’s own work, the horror in this anthology aims to be subtle and subjective. The mind and its inner working are a far …

Found on the Net: Asylum

  • February 11, 2013

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Here’s another Kickstarter project. Asylum is a point-and-click adventure video game with horror elements, or, as the official website says, “A psychological horror adventure inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and set in a massive, decaying mental institute.”

Asylum is being developed by Senscape, an Argentinian company headed by Agustín Cordes. He previously designed and developed Scratches, which sold over 250,000 copies.

The Kickstarter page says:

“There is a lot to investigate and discover and, quite literally, …

Found on the Net: W.H. Pugmire and the Case of the Wikipedia Deletion

  • February 3, 2013

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

A few days ago, a rumbling unsettled the Lovecraftian community as news spread that the Wikipedia entry of author W.H. Pugmire was in danger of being deleted. While the entry could use some revising and condensing, the reasons for the deletion are misguided, at best. Here is why it is on the chopping block:

Pugmire has no major publication credits

“Pugmire’s literary output seems to have been almost entirely short stories and poems, most of them …
