Found on the Net: New “Evil Dead” Totally A Go

  • January 17, 2012

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Hey, remember the 80s? The hair, the neon, the pop music, and OMG THE SCENE WITH THE TREE RAPE?! Yes, dear friends, I’m talking about The Evil Dead, the low-budget horror flick which launched the career of Sam Raimi. Sam would go on to direct Spiderman and produce succesful shows like Xena.

Well, The Evil Dead is back and ready to raise a new army of deadites with the aid of the Necronomicon (You do …

Review: Skyline

  • January 12, 2012

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Skyline (2011) Directors: Greg Strause, Colin Strause Actors: Eric Balfour, Donald Faison

Skyline is a cheap B movie that accidentally stumbled onto a slightly bigger budget. Roger Corman would have shot 20 films with the money spent on this one and you might have ended up with more-interesting storylines.

I followed this with another Eldritch short, “The Statement of Randolph Carter”:

Finally, I discovered …

  • December 23, 2011

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather (2006). Director: Vadim Jean. Cast: Neil Pearson, Tony Robinson, David Jason and Stephen Marcus. Country: UK.

I’m not one for heartwarming holiday specials, but if you have to watch something of that sort this time of year, I would recommend Terry Prachet’s Hogfather or Scrooged. Hogfather is a 2006 two-part television mini-series based on…um…Terry Prachet’s Discworld book of the same name. Though it’s made for television and, thus, a lower-budget affair, it’s a …

  • December 19, 2011

By Silvia Moreno-Garcia

If you have a couple of spare toys this Christmas (and you live in the USA), you ought to enter the Toys for Tots Horror Style contest. Entrants need to post a pic of themselves dropping a toy into a “Toys For Tots” donation box. One random winner will win a whole library of horror books. Titles up for grabs include our own Future Lovecraft anthology, A Means to Freedom: The Letters of H.P. Lovecraft and Robert …
